Ukraine often called the bread basket of Europe as the country is major exporter of wheat also of sunflower oil to the world i.e Black Sea region which is suitable for the growth of Sunflower plant. But why has no one really came to help Ukraine, which is so important for the food security of the region ?
Before that we need to know why war started ?
In past Ukraine was part of erstwhile USSR( Union of Soviet Socialist Republic) which got disintegrated in 1991 due to fall of it and giving birth to independent Ukraine. In that year also NATO promised Russia that it would not expand its alliance eastward of Germany, but as its said ” Promises are made to be broken ” , Ukraine was also preparing to join NATO as Ukraine was now getting closer to west having signed agreement with EU (European Union–Ukraine Association Agreement) in 2017 which puts in western sphere of influence rather than Russian sphere of influence this rained alarms for Russia who didn’t want Ukraine to join NATO, In the pretext of its security concern’s Russia invaded the Ukraine. One interesting fact is that Ukraine in 1991 had 3rd largest no of nuclear warheads in the world but it gave back all to Russia through Budapest Memorandum 1994 in which US, UK and Russia guarantees its security. And i think people would be regretting this.
Who will interfere ?
In Europe, security is responsibility of NATO and most of the European countries are part of it, but as discussed above Ukraine is not part of its alliance.
Putin has warned that “anyone who would consider interfering from the outside” will “face consequences greater than any you have faced in history”.
Instead west’s strategy is to blow down the Russian economy with the help of sanctions but their is a catch energy is out off sanctions list which is really driver of Russian economy as most of the Europe is depended on Russia for their energy demand and but it will really do damage in long run.
As far as China and India, Both have not made any comments against Russia both being allies of the Russia and even have abstained from voting against Russia in UNSC( United Nations Security Council).
India is even exploring to setup rupee trade accounts with Russia to soften sanctions blows.
Before World Wars, Europeans have notion that war is glorious but that changed after World War 2 which left nothing but corpses and war debris highlighting Homo homini lupus i.e Man is Wolf to Man, as it was first war that saw use of weapons of mass destruction like nykes, poison gas etc.
And its seems like people have not learned a bit from this, or i can say our representatives as its said ” There is no winners in War”.
Its a war that had been already decided if west was not to aide Ukriane, thats why President Zelenskyy have cursed west as he said ‘If You Don’t Help Us Today, War Will Knock on Your Door Tomorrow’.
